Paratransit, Inc., is now accepting applications for  full-time entry level Mechanic positions to perform maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment as assigned.  The schedule is Monday through Friday includes various shifts starting as early as 5:00 a.m. and ending as late as 9:00 p.m.  40 hours per week. The minimum qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • Valid California Class C Driver License
  • If hired, you will be required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement
  • ASE Certification preferred but not required
  • Tools and equipment of the mechanic trade provided
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Ability to learn the basic operation and repair characteristics of buses, trucks, vans, automobiles, and other equipment
  • Ability to learn operations of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel engines
  • Ability to learn the basic methods, materials, practices, and tools of the   mechanic trade
  • COVID-19 vaccination and Booster (if eligible) required prior to first day of work.
  • Must pass drug test
  • Clean DMV record

Typical Duties:

Mechanic C- Entry Level position.  ASE or School Certificate required or 1-2 years’ work experience: To perform routine or basic preventive maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment as assigned.  Employees in this classification receive direct supervision from the maintenance operations supervisor or his or her designate within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures.  This job class exercises responsibility for performing preventive maintenance inspections and repair and for assisting higher-level mechanics in the performance of more complex mechanical maintenance tasks.

Salary:

The starting salary is $22.00-$23.00 per hour. Pay rate is based on skill level of applicant hired. This position includes a generous benefits package, including free Kaiser medical and MetLife dental for employee, low cost benefits for dependents, vision, chiropractic and life insurance, voluntary benefits, medical and dependent day care FSA accounts and 401k plan with an employer contribution after two years of service. Medical and Dental benefits start the first of the months after 30 days of employment.
