Paratransit, Inc. is currently seeking applications for full-time Bus Mechanics to perform maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment as assigned. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM, with occasional shifts starting as early as 5:00 AM for training or as needed. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License, with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement upon hire
  • ASE Certification is preferred but not required
  • Tools and equipment of the mechanic trade provided
  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Ability to learn the operation and repair characteristics of buses, trucks, vans, automobiles, and other equipment
  • Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel engines is a plus
  • Familiarity with mechanic tools, materials, and practices
  • Must pass a drug test (including marijuana)

Mechanic A (Highly Skilled Level):

  • ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, plus 5 years of work experience and welding experience
  • Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair of buses, vehicles, and other equipment
  • Works with minimal supervision, ensuring timely and efficient repairs
  • Provides oversight and guidance to other mechanics as assigned
  • Requires advanced technical skills and journey-level tasks
  • Expereince with bus lifts a plus

Mechanic B (Mid-Level):

  • ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, plus 5 years of work experience
  • Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment
  • Works under direct supervision, handling basic mechanical tasks and assisting in more complex repairs
  • Responsible for assisting higher-level mechanics and relieving them of routine maintenance tasks

Mechanic C (Entry-Level):

  • ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, or 1-2 years of work experience
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance and basic repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment
  • Works under close supervision, assisting with inspections and repairs
  • Responsible for preventive maintenance tasks and supporting more complex maintenance activities

Salary and Benefits:

  • Starting salary: $22.00–$27.00 per hour, depending on experience and skill level
