Paratransit, Inc. is currently seeking applications for full-time Bus Mechanics to perform maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment as assigned. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM, with occasional shifts starting as early as 5:00 AM for training or as needed. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License, with a clean driving record
- Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement upon hire
- ASE Certification is preferred but not required
- Tools and equipment of the mechanic trade provided
- Must be reliable and responsible
- Ability to learn the operation and repair characteristics of buses, trucks, vans, automobiles, and other equipment
- Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel engines is a plus
- Familiarity with mechanic tools, materials, and practices
- Must pass a drug test (including marijuana)
Mechanic A (Highly Skilled Level):
- ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, plus 5 years of work experience and welding experience
- Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair of buses, vehicles, and other equipment
- Works with minimal supervision, ensuring timely and efficient repairs
- Provides oversight and guidance to other mechanics as assigned
- Requires advanced technical skills and journey-level tasks
- Expereince with bus lifts a plus
Mechanic B (Mid-Level):
- ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, plus 5 years of work experience
- Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment
- Works under direct supervision, handling basic mechanical tasks and assisting in more complex repairs
- Responsible for assisting higher-level mechanics and relieving them of routine maintenance tasks
Mechanic C (Entry-Level):
- ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, or 1-2 years of work experience
- Performs routine preventive maintenance and basic repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment
- Works under close supervision, assisting with inspections and repairs
- Responsible for preventive maintenance tasks and supporting more complex maintenance activities
Salary and Benefits:
- Starting salary: $22.00–$27.00 per hour, depending on experience and skill level
