Paratransit, Inc., is now accepting applications for full-time Mechanic positions to perform maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment as assigned. The schedule is Monday through Friday includes various shifts starting as early as 5:00 a.m. and ending as late as 9:00 p.m. 40 hours per week. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
The minimum qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Valid California Class C Driver License
- If hired, you will be required to obtain a Commercial Driver License with Passenger Endorsement.
- ASE Certification preferred but not required.
- Tools and equipment of the mechanic trade provided.
- Reliable and responsible.
- Ability to learn the basic operation and repair characteristic of buses, trucks, vans, automobiles, and other equipment.
- Ability to learn operations of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel engines.
- Ability to learn the basic methods, materials, practices, and tools of the mechanic trade.
- COVID-19 vaccination is highly encouraged.
- Must pass drug test (including marijuana).
- Clean DMV record.
Typical Duties:
Mechanic A- Highly skilled Level position. ASE or successful completion of School Certificate in related field is required, 5 years’ work experience, plus welding experience required. To perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair of buses, vehicles, and other equipment as assigned. Employees in this classification receive general supervision from the maintenance operations supervisor or his or her designate within a framework of standard policies and procedures. This job class exercises responsibility for the timely and efficient repair and maintenance assigned vehicles and equipment. This job class performs technical skilled tasks at a journey level of classification and from time to time monitors and inspects the work of other mechanics as assigned.
Mechanic B-Mid Level position. ASE or successful completion of School Certificate in related field is required and 5 years’ work experience. To perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment as assigned. Employees in this classification receive direct supervision from the maintenance operations supervisor or his or her designate within a framework of standard policies and procedures. This job class exercises responsibility for relieving journey level mechanics of basic or routine mechanical maintenance tasks and for assisting in the completion of more complex mechanical maintenance tasks.
Mechanic C- Entry Level position. ASE or successful completion of School Certificate in related field is required or 1-2 years’ work experience: To perform routine or basic preventive maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment as assigned. Employees in this classification receive direct supervision from the maintenance operations supervisor or his or her designate within a well-defined framework of policies and procedures. This job class exercises responsibility for performing preventive maintenance inspections and repair and for assisting higher-level mechanics in the performance of more complex mechanical maintenance tasks.
Salary:
The starting salary is $22.00-$27.00 per hour. Pay rate is based on skill level of applicant hired. This position includes a generous benefits package, including free Kaiser medical and SunLife dental for employee, low cost benefits for dependents, vision, chiropractic and life insurance, voluntary benefits, medical and dependent day care FSA accounts and 403B plan with a 9% employer contribution after two years of service. Medical and Dental benefits start the first of the months after 30 days of employment.
